An Ngwane shield (ihawu) with its supporting stick (umsila) and two fighting sticks (izinduku) (one is a knobkerrie or iwisa, and the other is a walking stick) leaning against the side of a hut, Hoffenthal, Bergville district, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Walking sticks were used in place of traditional fighting sticks because of the Apartheid Government's ban on traditional weapons.
